THE MANDATE PROJECT:

Dear Pastors & Leaders,

Greetings in the wonderful name of our Lord Jesus Christ! Thank you for your interest in The Mandate Project. I am delighted to introduce to you THE MANDATE Evangelism Training System; a Spirit-filled course study and seminar curriculum that I have been developing over the last several years. I have come to the conclusion after teaching evangelism in local churches and holding crusades that believers are in need of an anointed approach on how to present the Gospel message today.

I have always encouraged the biblical terminology, "equipping the saints for the work of the ministry." (Eph. 4: 12) THE MANDATE is designed to train the believer in lifestyle evangelism, effectively reaching their community through evangelism teams and citywide crusades.

THE MANDATE Evangelism Training System is designed in modules to help establish a proper foundation in the local church for evangelism. I discovered that I could teach the materials more effectively through the use of modules. The system has become stream-lined without cutting corners.

THE MANDATE Evangelism Training System will be an ongoing program for your church and study group from year to year. May the Lord bless you as believers are equipped to win the lost to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." (Mark 16:14-20)

In Him,

Stan Jackowski

CHAPTER 1  Defining Evangelism

Key Note Thought:  Evangelism- Giving your life and time to others through sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Introduction:  Defining  “Evangelism” according to The Merriam- Webster's Dictionary -1: the winning or revival or personal commitments to Christ  2: militant or crusading zeal  (The Merriam- Websters Dictionary)

What is Evangelism?  It is impossible to find a definition that adequately expresses its real and comprehensive meaning.  It has been attempted often and perhaps it is a good thing for each generation of Christians to attempt its own definition as to the meaning of this word. To me the best and most comprehensive definition is the one that was formulated by the representative of thirty Protestants, the time of the Columbus, Ohio, meeting of the Executive Committee of the Federal Council of Churches in 1946. After much prayer and considerable discussion, the Department of Evangelism stated, “The presentation of the Good News of God in Jesus Christ, so that men are brought through the power of the Holy Spirit, to put their trust in God; accept Jesus Christ as their savior from the guilt and power of sin; follow and serve Him as their Lord in fellowship of the Church and in the vocations of the common life.” (ev chll Amme)

Evangelism is bringing forth the good news, that Jesus Christ the son of the living God, came to the world, died on the cross for our sin shedding His blood, arose the third day with eternal life for all that will believe in Him, and call upon Him shall be saved and not perish into utter darkness.  (John 3:16)

The Word “Evangelism” And “Gospel” We get the word evangelism from Latin, which came from the Greek.  The word evangelium is a latin word that was derived from two Greek word’s, eu translated “well” and aggelos translated “messenger.” Gospel comes from the Anglo-Saxon godspell.  God spell (story), or good spell. The Gospel is telling the good news, good spell, a story of Jesus Christ.

Evangelism in the Old Testament

“And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: But of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”  (Gen. 2:16-17)

God made His commandment clear to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.  They were not to partake of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.  The day they did eat of it, mankind sold their rights and turned their lives over to the devil. Sin was the result of rebellion and disobedience. The scarlet thread of redemption can be traced throughout the entire Bible.  There had to be shed blood or some type of type of sacrifice in the old testament for the remission of original sin.  Men, women, and children now have a way of forgiveness by confessing and believing in a savior who will provide this deliverance from the Father of evil.

Evangelism has been a partner to redemption from the beginning. God used the priests, kings, and prophets of old to lead the people to Him.  In many instances God provided deliverance from the attack of the enemy by destroying those who persecuted the army of the living God. The Gospel wasn't preached like today, but God provided good news and grace was operative. Noah found grace in the  eyes of Lord. God repented by a man's intercession for one city.  God blessed generations for the faith of one man.  Abraham staggered not at the promises of God. He called  those which be not as though they were. (Rom. 4:17) Evangelism a word of deliverance, healing, and salvation.

Types of Evangelists in The Old Covenant:

Moses- Exodus 14:15-22

Moses was the man who was raised up to lead an entire camp, the Israelites, out of the bondage of Egypt.  He brought them across the Red Sea to a place that would keep them safe from the army of Pharaoh. The waters parted long enough for God's people to go through. When the enemy tried to cross the wall of water closed destroying the enemies of God.

The Two Spies- Joshua 2

The two spies sent by Joshua into the land of Jericho were led to the house of a harlot named Rahab. They hid from the enemy. Rahab knew these men were of God. She hid them above the house, endangering her own life.  The spies promised her salvation and deliverance for her and her family.

Jonah- Jonah 3:1-2

Jonah experienced the affliction and disaster of being swallowed into inner darkness, the belly of a whale, for disobeying the leading or commandment of God. Yet through repentance Jonah cried for salvation. God granted him grace and once again instructed him, "And the word of the Lord came unto Jonah the second time saying, arise go unto Nineveh that great city and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee."

Isaiah The Prophet- Isaiah 9:6

The prophet Isaiah, along with the other major and minor prophets, proclaimed the Gospel Message of deliverance and salvation. Messianic prophecies pointed to the Savior who would come into the world bringing light to the darkness, healing to the sick, deliverance of the demon possessed, and salvation or eternal life to all who would believe. "For unto us a child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace." (Is. 9:6)

Evangelism and redemption in Old Covenant pointed directly to the cross, the center of all victory. There has been a message, a shout of good news and deliverance from original sin.  God has never failed His people in spite of human weakness.  God has always had a redemption plan. Man has always been faced with the choice of life or death.  We must remember this foundation of evangelism.  Salvation is a free gift from God  through His son Jesus Christ. God is a God who changes not. His heart has always been to save people from an eternity of tormenting hell, bring them into one of everlasting peace with God, the creator of the universe.

Types of Evangelism In The New Covenant:

The work of the evangelist and evangelism in the New Testament is demonstrated differently in some ways then it is in the Old Testament.  We understand the Old Testament was based upon the Law and the New is an inward working of grace through Jesus Christ, the savior and the beginning of the dispensation of the Holy Spirit or the Holy Spirit within the earth.  The word “Evangelist” is mentioned three times in the entire Bible.

1.)  "And he gave some, apostles; and some prophets; and some, EVANGELISTS: and some,  pastors and teachers.   Eph. 4:11

2.)     II Timothy 4:5  "Do the work of an evangelist."

3.)  Acts 21:8  Phillip was an Evangelist.

John the Baptist

John the Baptist was not called by a title of evangelist in the New Testament, but he preached repentance and salvation to the lost.  His message was to the lost and those who were religious or church type of people.  In Matt. 3 we see him telling the people to repent for the kingdom of God is at hand, preparing the way of the Lord, making His paths straight, and he was water baptizing them in the wilderness.

Jesus Christ

Jesus was ushered in the on the preaching of the Evangelist. Therefore His mission was Evangelism, and His final world to the believers was to preach & teach the Gospel to all nations.  (Mark 16: & Matt. 28:))

Phillip

Phillip is also an example of an Evangelist in the New Testament.  When he went down to the city of Samaria in Acts 8:5, his main objective was to preach Jesus Christ to them. Many were healed and miracles took place as the people took heed to what Phillip was preaching.  Joy was brought to the people.

One famous message to concentrate upon is the one on one communication Phillip has with the Eunuch in Acts 8:26-40. The quality of a true evangelist is to minister to one as quickly to ten thousand.  He was lead by the Spirit of God to hook himself to the chariot.  There he was able to minister to the need of the Eunuch.  The anointing of God came upon him while sharing the scripture, and revelation came from the evangelist’s mouth spontaneously.  The Eunuch was immediately converted and water baptized.  Then Phillip was translated geographically, found at Azotus, and passing through he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea Acts 8:40.  Again, he left this man rejoicing or having great joy. The Evangelist is to leave the people with great joy or strength unless they refuse to repent or receive the message.  The Bible says, “The joy of the Lord is our strength.”  Where there is joy there is strength!

Yesterdays Campmeetings

Another key role in the evangelism of the frontier was played by the camp meetings. People came from many miles around to pitch their tents and stay for days of preaching and evangelism. The camp meetings were times of spiritual refreshment and social gathering. In the 18OO's many people looked forward to camp meeting time each year. It was a time to renew old acquaintances, to hear great preachers, and to see sinners saved and Christians revived in spiritual zeal. In later years wood frame tabernacles were built to shelter large crowds at the campground, and many families who attended camp meeting replaced their tents with permanent dwellings at the campsite.

In the nineteenth century, camp meetings were held throughout the west. Francis Asbury tells us that in the year 1811 alone four hundred camp meetings were held.  In some areas the camp meetings lasted well into the twentieth century.  They are a major part of our American heritage.

Peter Cartwright once said: “I am very certain that the most successful part of my ministry has been on campgrounds. There the word of God has reached the hearts of thousands that otherwise, in all probability, never would have been reached by the oridnary means of grace.”

Campmeetings and the itinerant preaching brought Christianity to the common folk. For example, in just two years, the Western Conference of the Methodist Church gained six thousand members. In Kentucky, the Baptists added ten thousand to their congregations between 1803. Presbyterians also saw a substantial increase in their numbers in the early nineteenth century.   By  1855,  Methodism was the largest Protestant denomination in America with a total of over a million and a half members. The Baptists formed the second-largest denomination with over a million in their number.[1]

One observer described a camp meeting held in the early 1800's

The tents are generally pitched in the form of a crescent, in the centre of which is an elevated stand for the preachers, round which, in all directions, are placed rows of planks for the people to sit upon while they hear the word. Among the trees, which spread their tops overt this forest church, are hung lamps, which burn all night, and give light to the various exercises of religion, which occupy the solemn midnight hours. It was nearly eleven o'clock at night when I arrived on the border of the camp. I left my boat at the edge of the wood, one mile from the scene; and when I opened upon the camp ground, my curiosity was converted into astonishment, to behold the pendant lamps among the trees; the tents half- encircling a large space; four thousand people in the centre of this, listening with profound attention to the preacher, whose stentorian voice and animated manner carried the vibration of each word to a great distance through the deeply umbrageous wood, where, save the twinkling lamps of the camp, brooding darkness spread a tenfold gloom. All excited my astonishment, and forcibly brought before my view the Hebrews in the wilderness. The meetings generally begin on Monday morning, and on Friday morning following break up.  The daily exercises are carried forward in the following manner: in the morning five o'clock the horn sounds through the camp, either for preaching or for prayer; this, with similar exercises or a little intermission, brings on the breakfast hour, eight o'clock; at ten, the horn sounds for public preaching, after which, until noon, the interval is filled up with little groups of prayer persons, who scatter themselves up and down the camp, both in the tents and under the trees. After dinner the horn sounds at two o'clock; this is for preaching. I should have observed that a female or two is generally left in each tent, to prepare materials for dinner. A fire is kept burning in different parts of camp, where water is boiled for tea, the use of ardent spirits being forbidden. After the afternoon preaching things are take nearly the same course as in the morning, only the praying groups are upon a larger scale, and more scope is given to animated exhortations and loud prayers. Some who exercise on these occasions soon loose their voices, and, at the end of a camp meeting, many of both preachers and people can only speak in a whisper.  At six o'clock in the evening the horn summons to preaching, after which, though in no regulated from, all the above means continue until evening; yea, and during whatever part of the night you awake, the wilderness is vocal with praise.2

Evangelism throughout history is noted as the life line of the church. The calling of the church has been and always will be winning people to Jesus Christ and making disciples out of all men.

CHAPTER 2  Evangelism: The Mandate

Keynote Thought:  The prerequisite for doing The Mandate are to those who obey and believe that the word preached will be confirmed with signs following.

Introduction:   Read  Mark 16:14-20;  Luke 14:21-24;  Acts 1:1-15

What Is The Believers Responsibility?

GO AND DO ALL THAT IS WRITTEN IN THE MANDATE

“Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. And he said unto them, go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils: they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover. So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven and sat on the right hand of God. And they went forth every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen!”  (Mark 16:14-20)

Believers Responsibility Found In Mark 16:14-20

1.)    Believe in the resurrection of Jesus Christ the savior  (vs. 14)

2.)    Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature  (vs. 15)

3.)    He that believes and is baptized shall be saved  (vs. 16)

4.)    Signs shall follow them that believe  (vs. 17a)

5.)    In the name of Jesus they will cast out devils  (vs. 17b)

6.)    They shall speak with new tongues  (vs. 17c)

7.)    They shall take up serpents  (vs. 18a ;  Acts 28:3-5)

8.)    If they drink any deadly thing it shall not hurt them  (vs. 18b)

9.)    They shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover  (vs. 19)

10.) They went forth and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen. (vs. 20)

 Corrected Theological Controversy/ Mark 16:9-20

note: some theologians have tried to end the Gospel of Mark at chapter 16 verse 20.  Why would the good news conclude with fear and no documentation of the final words Jesus gave to the believer prior to ascending into heaven?  This argument has been corrected by cross referencing the scriptures, testimony of the early church, testimony of present signs & wonders.

1.)    Mark 16:9-20

2.)   Knowing why there are religious arguments about the authority of the believer and    miracles

3.)   The following scriptures are a few examples throughout the Bible where God   confirmed His word:

 Mark 16:15-16

Preach the gospel, believe and besaved; baptized

John 3:16-18;  Rom. 10:9-10

The salvation experience

Mark 16:17 ; Mark 9:38; Luke 10:17-19; Acts 16:18

Signs following, In Jesus Name, cast out devil

Mark 16:17; Acts 2:4; Acts 10:46; Acts 19:6;II Cor. 14:2,4, 14

Speaking in new tongues

Mark 16:18 Acts 28:1-6

Take up serpents or drink any deadly thing (accidental)

 Mark 16:18; Heb. 6:1-2; Acts 9:15-18; Acts 28:7-10;  Mark 16:19;  Matt.4:24; Mk 5:23; Lk. 8:43; Lk. 22:51; Acts 5:16; Acts 10:38

Doctrine of laying on of hands/healing

Mark 16:20; Acts 3:1-11

Confirming the Word signs following/ Book of Acts

         Matt. 28:18; Eph. 1:19-23; Eph. 2:6

                                               Authority of the believer

“Some of the most ancient authorities bring the book to a close at the end of verse 8.  One authority concludes the book with the shorter ending; others include the shorter ending and then continue with verses 9-20.  In most authorities verses 9-20 follow immediately after verse 8, though in some of these authorities the passage is marked as being doubtful.”

Theologians are men who have taken the Bible, studying every angle with additional references and making it a theory.  There are many who have brought out tremendous revelation helping the Christian society understand Biblical truths in more explainable fashion, yet others have written their own Bible or created a doctrine, based upon theory and scripture passages taken out of context.  Theologians can also be men who have intellectually taken the word of God out of its actual supernatural values, causing it to be a text book doctrine.  Then their doctrine only becomes a law of condemnation, it institutes wrong thinking, incorrect guidance to those who are uneducated in basic Bible Hermeneutics.  Jesus said in Matt. 5:14, “And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.”

When the power of the Holy Ghost is ten away, people subtract faith and replace it with reasoning.  Therefore questions will lead to discovery and eventually skepticism.  The Corrected Theological Controversy of Mark 16: 9-20 needs to be defined.  A group of theologians made a fallacy after two of the oldest Greek manuscripts were discovered. The passages Mark 16:9-20 were not contained in these Greek manuscripts.  Therefore, they came to a conclusion, that is scripturally incorrect to have these passages recorded in the Cannon. These same theologians failed to comment or announce that the 618 other manuscripts which have been uncovered to indeed record Mark 16:9-20.  The devil has been fighting these passages to the very end for century's.  The Great Commission or Great Mandate- to spread the Good News effectively in the name of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Ghost.  Besides, look at verse 8, “:And they went out quickly, and fled from the sepulchre, for they trembled and were amazed: neither said they any thing to any man; for they were afraid.”

I do not believe God, not the Holy Ghost would leave Jesus' final words, plus end the book of Mark at a negative note.  “..... for they were afraid.”  Compared to verse 20  “.... and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.”  “..... that in the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.  (Matt. 17:16; II Cor. 1; Deu.17:6)

Let us look at these passage as God's word confirming throughout the Bible by other witnesses and how the Holy Spirit is continuing His work throughout the earth today.  We are His witnesses!  Why would he put something in the Bible like speaking with new tongues, laying on the sick for healing, many other promises, and not fulfilling His promise when we believe?  We have seen the Great Commission operated in our ministry, our foundation is based upon these passages, by demonstration and power.  The only one that is not mentioned in the Bible else where, is drink any deadly thing, yet I imagine if God kept Paul from all His attacks including  a poisonous snake on the island Patmos, He can keep us if we drink deadly poison.

 Healing The Sick

In 1980, shortly after I had received Jesus Christ my Uncle called me to come to his home and pray for him. He had a lump in his side the size of a grapefruit.  We layed a prayer cloth on his side in the name of Jesus as believers and left. Later when he visited his doctor, who was not a believer said, “This is a miracle.”  The lump was totally dissolved.  Praise the Lord!!!  We have seen countless miracles, signs and wonders following the preaching of God's Word.  Therefore, I drew the conclusion, that if God's Word say it, all we have to do is believe and act upon the Word, regardless of circumstances.  I know, because I believe God, and The Mandate works for the BELIEVER.

Defining The Mandate

Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary defines COMMISSION / MANDATE:Commission-  1a: formal written warrant granting the power to perform various acts or duties b. a certificate conferring military rank and authority; also: the rank and authority so conferred2: an authorization or command to act in a prescribed manner or to perform prescribed acts: CHARGE  3: a: authority to act for,  in behalf of,  or in a place of another.

Mandate-  1: An authoritative command; esp: a formal order from a superior court or official to an inferior one.

Jesus left His disciples with an awesome responsibility and authority to fulfill the job.  Before He ascended to be seated in heavenly places at the right hand of God, (Eph.1:20) He left the believer a command or mandate, authority, authorization.  The mandate is to do the works which Jesus did and greater. (Jn. 14:12) Those who BELIEVE.  The command was not given only to the five fold ministry; Apostle, Prophet, Evangelist, Teacher and Pastor (Eph. 4:11) But to those who BELIEVE.  Jesus gave an “Evangelistic Charge.”  Look closely again at these verses.  I like to phrase the beginning of Jesus’ charge in this way, “Believing preceeds the following .”

In other words, all must have faith or believe.  Belief is synonymous of faith.  Before the devils are cast out, men speak with new tongues, sick recover, and so forth... there must be faith. Many will say, “you are talking faith in faith.”  NO!  Faith in the Word of God.

Right there the message is missed,  because nothing will happen where doubt and unbelief exist and that person has NO BELIEF.  Lack of faith or lack or the Word of God Romans 10:17 says,  “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”

Look at verse 17 again, “And these signs shall follow them that believe...”  Believing preceeds the following.  If people have put the Word of God in their hearts, they have faith.  If the grain of a mustard seed can remove a mountain . . .

Then verse 17 says by the Name of Jesus or the Word, these signs shall follow.  John 1:13 “Which were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.  14 And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us . . .”

I like Christian songwriter David Engles song, “The Word came walking down the road one day.”  Jesus is the Word and Word is Jesus.  Anyone who is born again with Christ living within have a measure of faith to allow to grow or stay the same size.  Romans 12:3" . . . as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith.   12:6 . . . according to the proportion of faith.”

I believe with all my heart if, as a believer, you will go and obey God's Word, you will experience results simply according to the Jesus that lives within.  There is adversary the devil who will try with all his strength to stop believers from doing the works of Jesus, because it is a destruction to his kingdom every time someone obeys the Great Commission.  It's a constant reminder of his defeat at the cross to Jesus Christ. This message Jesus was giving to all generations had an “Evangelistic Charge” from the word “Go.”  Literally, the Bible says, “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature . . .”

In verse 14 we can observe the beginning of this classic mandate the disciple had been with Jesus throughout His life eating, sleeping, and doing the ministry.  Yet within the midst of the resurrected Christ they stood in total unbelief.  “Afterward he appeared to the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because THEY BELIEVED NOT THEM WHICH HAD SEEN HIM AFTER HE WAS RISEN.” (Mk. 16:14)

The Greek word for upbraid is oneidizo which is basically translated to “reproach.”  Jesus was disgraced with their attitudes, disgraced with their unbelief and hardness of heart.

Many people today say, “If I could only see Jesus, I would believe or get my healing.  It must have been easy back in the Bible days to believe.”

No!  A thousand times no!  Jesus in the company of his very close disciples who He knew well, still doubted His appearance and resurrection.  Jesus in the midst of combating unbelief, He said immediately without hesitation, “Go ye into all the world and preach the Gospel to every creature.”  (Mk. 16:15)

This scripture is an open door and answer to winning the lost to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.  If Church leaders would obey this simple command, they would never have to go to another Church growth conference in the entire history of their ministry.  They would be too busy taking care of the new born Christians.  I have been walking this reality of ministry  to the needs of a hurting humanity through going into the world by faith,  preaching the and teaching the Gospel .  Remember what Jesus said in the Gospel according to Luke 14:23,  “and the Lord said unto the servant, Go, out into the highways and hedges, and COMPEL them to come in, that my house may be filled.”

Jesus doesn't care if these folks are rich, middle class or poor.  He said for us to go and get them by compelling them.  If it takes food - feed them.  If it takes clothing - clothe them. If they need a job - get a list of jobs from the city and offer them a job.  If they need a place to live - get them a place to live; help them financially till they get their feet back on the ground.

Maybe the rich or middle class have all these materialistic needs met, but the spiritual man is  destitute and  starving for God.  I heard of one group that invites famous people or celebrities who have been born again and they offer a free steak dinner to their guests.  The celebrity shares their testimony and many come to Jesus Christ through the Gospel being presented in a very relaxed atmosphere.

Many youth enjoy singing groups and bands.  We had a famous Christian singer who came to our city.  We gave away free posters tickets hung poster, announced it on several radio stations.  Over 200 youth came to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. Thank God for the Church, a place where we can minister life to those who need teaching, to hurting people, but we must get them there first.  The Church is also a place where the Christians can fellowship, learn, re-charge to go forth to witness to a world that is dyeing.

When I was ministering in Miami Florida we did several creative outreaches to the lost.  I compare much of winning souls to bass fishing.  When I go bass fishing throughout the year I use different lures.  In the Spring I like to fish with a jig and springtime eel or pork frog slow on the bottom.  In the hot summer I like to pull a jitterbug or something like a spinner buzz bait.

One instance we were given several pounds of cheese from an evangelist friend.  We went to the streets, and handed cheese to the hungry.  Another time, we got day old bread from the grocery store and took this to the streets as well to the poor areas.  Remember, Jesus fed the multitudes, then ministered to their spiritual needs. (Note: If you will go to the grocery store and tell them your purpose, bread is sometimes thrown away or other products - tell them you like to have these products for distribution to those who are needy.)

Then, several months later in another part of Florida, we set a tent in a very poverty, drug and crime invested area.  We had different singers come and minister each night.  We led over 250 people to Jesus during out tent and pre-crusade street and door to door outreaches.  We invited a missions outreach minister to come and distribute clothes on a Saturday afternoon.  We had another evangelist speak on a particular evening.  The tent was half full.  He introduced his message, then encouraged the people to GO out from the tent and invite or COMPEL others to come inside.  The three steps we took were based upon  Luke 14:23 “And the Lord said unto the servant, GO, out into the highways and hedges, and COMPEL them in, that my house man be filled.”

                            1)  Go - the people went

                            2) Where? - Highways & hedges

                            3) Compel  -   To Jesus

Follow Up & Teach

There is a beautiful harmony that takes place as we begin to see this full meaning of Go throughout the scriptures.  Looking at the harmony of the Gospels, specifically the Great Commission we can learn the on going instructions of our Lord and Savior.  We see His plan of Evangelism for the Church is not just getting people saved, but the three fold importance of follow up, discipleship, and teaching.

Matthew 28:19-20  is a harmony with Mark and Luke.  We can compare the different Gospel   writers for a further revelation and insight and clarity from God's Word.

Matthew 28:19

“Go ye therefore; and teach all nations...”

Matthew 28:20

“teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you...”

Here we see the writing of Matthew was emphasizing our duty to teach, which signifies the follow up and discipleship of those who have already come to know Jesus Christ.  It is one thing to catch the fish and net them, but let us keep them in the night net, not letting them get away, back into the world.

We can see the clear instruction of Mark that Jesus is saying Preach that Evangelistic message to the world Alive!  Luke 24, the gospel writer explains the side of Jesus how to actually goes lifted by the power of God into the heavenlies, blessing them by lifting his hand, and instructing the disciples to each wait in Jerusalem, the upper room, until they are endued with power from upon high.  This leads us into the book of Acts, which Dr. Luke also recorded, a continuation from the last Chapter of Luke.  Then we witness the dispensation of the Holy Ghost.  The power Christ had promised the believers to take forth the gospel doing equal and greater works. (John 14:)

Once all these great signs and wonders take place, people need to be instructed on what happened.  Most miss the spirit realm or miracles, for they are looking at natural circumstances or human reason or the naked eye to see.  There must be teaching.

Teaching is simply instructing students with a particular subject MATTER, ENABLING THEM OR GIVING THEM KNOWLEDGE, the ability to choose a continuing work that will improve and build form one level to the next.

Teachers should motivate the believers not only to instruct them, but to take the knowledge out of the Church to help others to know Christ and be others to a deeper understanding of things of God.

 Power of Attorney

In Mark 16 Jesus made it clear that the things we do for Him need to be based upon our believing initially.  Believing that when we use His name, these particular promises will follow according to the written Word of God.  We have the power of Attorney In the Name of Jesus.

I was studying the fact of this revelation to help us understand really what Jesus meant by the believers have the privilege to use His name.  Webster's Ninth New Collegiate Dictionary defines Power of Attorney - A legal instrument authorizing one to act as the attorney or agent of the grantor.

We have been given as Christians the right through redemption to exercise kingdom principles.  The example would be if someone you knew very well gave you the responsibility to do a specific task like selling one of your businesses or some type of business transaction, you would have the power to do so by signing His name.  You have been given the authority or power of attorney, yet that doesn't mean you own the business nor receive the benefits as though it was your property.

This happens to be the case with THE GREAT COMMISSION.  Jesus is the grantor and when we sign His name as the attorney or agent he begins to act on our behalf - that the Father in heaven may be glorified.  We are acting in His stead.  Therefore, when we sign or go forth in His name, believing in Jesus signs and wonders will follow the preaching or teaching of God's Word.

Jesus has left with the believers a call to the lost world, to lead them to his abundant and eternal life, to see them restored by being trained in a local house, where they can receive a strong foundation in the Rock - Jesus Christ.  I believe we have this power abiding within us that every need is met in Christ and we have the ability to be people transformed from glory to glory.

“A Prominent soulwinner once said: Let the cross be raised again at the center of the Market place, as well a on the steeple of the Church.  Jesus was not crucified in cathedral between two candles but on a cross between two thieves- on the town heap, at the crossroads so cosmopolitan that they has to write His title in Hebrew and Latin an Greek.  The Son of God was crucified at the kind of place where cynics talk smut, where thieves curse and where soldiers gamble.  Because that is where Christ died and since that is what He died about, that is where Christians can best share His message of love because that is what real Christianity is all about.”  T.L.
